Tahsin
Mohammed Jamshid, a name that was making waves in indian football community a
month ago, has created history again. The 17-year-old prodigy became the
first-ever Indian player to play in the top division for Al Duhail. He
made his debut in the competition for his side in their 2-0 defeat to Al Rayyan
on Sunday, March 31. Couple of month fast forward he is in Qatar 26 member
squad which will face Afghanistan and india
This
achievement has been a long time coming for Tahsin. Born and raised in Qatar,
he is a product of the country’s famous Aspire Football Academy, known for
churning out quality national team stars over the last decade. His roots trace
back to India through his parents, Jamshid and Shaima, both former varsity
footballers in India.
Interestingly,
Tahsin also holds Indian citizenship, Also he currently holds a temporary
Qatari passport, probably a ‘mission passport’, needed for sports competition.
As he has not yet played for the Qatar senior team, the 17-year-old can easily
opt to represent the Blue Tigers at the senior level if he chooses.
Tahsin
was roped in by Al-Duhail after excelling at the Aspire Academy and performing
strongly for Qatar’s U-17 team. In fact, he was part of the Qatar U-17 side which
India’s youth team faced in the Qatar Exposure Tour in 2023.
The
teenager is an exciting prospect, capable of tormenting defenders with his
trickery. A natural left-winger, he loves to dribble past defenders and use his
impressive change of pace to his advantage. Tahsin tends to dance into
impressive situations in the final third and possesses impressive goal-scoring
quality. He also enjoys setting up chances for his teammates with his final
delivery.
Now,
Tahsin is in the 26-member probable Qatar squad for the World Cup qualifiers
against India and Afghanistan. This is a significant step in his career and a
testament to his talent and hard work.
Tahsin
Mohammed Jamshid has set the bar high for Indian footballers by proving himself
capable of playing in a major Asian football league like the QSL. His journey
serves as an inspiration for many young footballers in India and around the
world.
