Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid to feature in Qatar Football team for world cup qualifiers against India and Afghanistan

 


Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid, a name that was making waves in indian football community a month ago, has created history again. The 17-year-old prodigy became the first-ever Indian player to play in the top division for Al Duhail. He made his debut in the competition for his side in their 2-0 defeat to Al Rayyan on Sunday, March 31. Couple of month fast forward he is in Qatar 26 member squad which will face Afghanistan and india

This achievement has been a long time coming for Tahsin. Born and raised in Qatar, he is a product of the country’s famous Aspire Football Academy, known for churning out quality national team stars over the last decade. His roots trace back to India through his parents, Jamshid and Shaima, both former varsity footballers in India.

Interestingly, Tahsin also holds Indian citizenship, Also he currently holds a temporary Qatari passport, probably a ‘mission passport’, needed for sports competition. As he has not yet played for the Qatar senior team, the 17-year-old can easily opt to represent the Blue Tigers at the senior level if he chooses.

Tahsin was roped in by Al-Duhail after excelling at the Aspire Academy and performing strongly for Qatar’s U-17 team. In fact, he was part of the Qatar U-17 side which India’s youth team faced in the Qatar Exposure Tour in 2023.

The teenager is an exciting prospect, capable of tormenting defenders with his trickery. A natural left-winger, he loves to dribble past defenders and use his impressive change of pace to his advantage. Tahsin tends to dance into impressive situations in the final third and possesses impressive goal-scoring quality. He also enjoys setting up chances for his teammates with his final delivery.

Now, Tahsin is in the 26-member probable Qatar squad for the World Cup qualifiers against India and Afghanistan. This is a significant step in his career and a testament to his talent and hard work.

Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid has set the bar high for Indian footballers by proving himself capable of playing in a major Asian football league like the QSL. His journey serves as an inspiration for many young footballers in India and around the world.
