Juan Ferrando: A New Chapter at AEK Larnaca

 

In a significant development Spanish ex Mohun Bagan SG coach Juan Ferrando has embarked on a new journey with Cypriot club AEK Larnaca, he penned down a two year deal with the cypriot club. Known for his tactical acumen and player development skills, Ferrando’s appointment is expected to usher in a new era for the club.

Juan Ferrando, a 43-year-old Spaniard, has had a diverse coaching career, starting quite young in the youth setups of CE Premià, Terrassa, Hospitalet, and Malaga. His first stint away from his homeland was with Sheriff Tiraspol, leading the Moldovan team to the Europa League group stages. He then had successful tenures with Ergotelis in Greece, Cultural Leonesa and Linares in Spain, Volos in Greece again, and FC Goa in India, where he won the club’s first major trophy. For the last two years, he has been working at Mohun Bagan Super Giants in India.


AEK Larnaca has announced a two-year collaboration with Ferrando. This move marks a significant step forward for Ferrando, as the club regularly competes in UEFA competitions, including the UEFA Conference League, Europa League, and they even featured in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers in 2022.They finished 3rd in the Cypriot 1st division and also played europa league finishing behind fenerbache and Rennes, the club’s management was impressed with Ferrando’s profile and his impressive performances in the Indian Super League where he won a multiple trophies, making them keen to bring him on board.
